Posted Date: 01/08/26 (07:05 PM)
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the success of our Internship Showcase! Over 70 students stepped up to present their work, highlighting months of involvement in our community and gaining critical exposure to potential careers and post-secondary paths.
Diverse Experiences
The range of industries represented was truly impressive. Our students didn't just observe; they immersed themselves in real-world environments, including but not limited to:
- Public Safety with the Uxbridge Police
- Engineering & Tech with MatrixSpace Engineering
- Creative Services & Trades with AccessTCA, local facilities departments, and local tradespeople
- Healthcare with local Physical Therapists, medical professionals,Â
- Media & Production with local television outlets
- Education within our own district schools
- The Arts through extensive theater and music projects
- Science Research with environmental departments
For high school students, these internships are about more than just a line on a resume. They bridge the gap between theory and practice, allowing students to "test drive" a career, develop professional durable skills, and make informed decisions about their futures before leaving high school.
Peer-to-Peer Learning
It wasn’t just the seniors learning! Underclassmen played a vital role by interviewing the presenters, asking questions about their projects, and exploring different industry strands. This interaction helps spark inspiration for the next generation of interns.
A Community Effort
The feedback from attendees has been outstanding, citing the exceptional professionalism of our students. We want to extend a massive thank you to the mentors, staff, and community partners who supported these students. We know this is a busy time of year and significant ask in terms of time and effort, and the willingness to accommodate our students and guide them through this milestone does not go unnoticed.
Special thanks to Mr. Moura, our internship coordinator, for all his hard work in maintaining and enhancing the internship program, incorporating a rigorous curriculum that builds durable skills for students across all five grades, and actively partnering with so many members of our community to make learning authentic and real for these students.
Congratulations to all our future professionals! 🎓💼
