Posted Date: 02/06/26 (02:00 PM)

We have a few updates from UHS this week:

Snowball Dance
The Snowball Dance is Saturday, February 28th from 7-9:30 in the gym. This is a semi-formal dance for grades 8-12. Guest forms are available in the main office and need to be returned by Wednesday, February 25th.  If your form is not returned by the 25th, your guest will not be allowed to attend the dance. Tickets will be on sale during all lunches from February 23rd through February 27th.  Tickets are $10 each. You can pay with cash or check (checks need to be made out to UHS Student Council). Tickets will not be sold at the door.
Please see Mrs. Bernard with any questions.

Reminder: Senior Distinctions and Upcoming Deadlines

We are writing to ensure all families in the Class of 2026 are aware of the new opportunities for graduation distinctions available this year.

The CAPS Diploma
For students who have gone above and beyond our standard requirements, the new CAPS Diploma recognizes achievement in professional pathways and real-world skill development. If your student has met at least four specific criteria—such as completing an internship, taking AP/Dual Enrollment courses, or earning industry credentials—please have them fill out the CAPS Diploma Eligibility Form so they can be recognized.

Service Distinction Cord
Does your senior have over 100 hours of community service? We want to honor that contribution with a distinction cord at graduation. Please submit service hours via This Form.

Course Selection Note
For families with non-graduating students, please note that course selection for the 2026-27 school year begins in February.
If you have questions about eligibility for either distinction, please contact the counseling department.

Department Highlight
This week during National School Counseling Week we wanted to thank our school counseling team here at UHS for its dedication to our community and all they do for our students. The team of Ms. Smith, Ms. Carlise, Ms. Gutekunst in school counseling, school psychologist Ms. Ritacco, adjustment counselors Ms. Tobin and Ms. Ciccone, and Mr. Moura and Mr. Coppolino in our career pathways work are an incredible resource for our students and whose work continues to be highlighted. In fact, next week we have another high school coming to meet with our counselors to learn how they integrate the MyCAP (Career and Academic Plan) process for every student at UHS.
